CASE STUDIES

In the Case Studies section, you have an opportunity to implement the skills that you have developed in the Short Activities section. The general format of the Case Studies is that they begin with a research report, which ends with an assignment that challenges you to evaluate its scientific content and quality. Most of the Case Studies have been designed to intentionally include the most common errors and mistakes that arise in scientific research and its reporting.

We cannot stress this strongly enough - the mistakes in these Case Studies are the ones that you are also most likely to make.

These Case Studies require a reasonable effort, and you can expect to take at least an hour or two to read each one and complete the assignment. In many cases, a good approach is to read the manuscript once, put it aside for a few days, and then make notes while rereading it.
